Indigo Harvesting & Drying
The harvest season runs from July to September.
Cut the indigo stems about 15 cm above the ground and tie them together with string. Ideally, each bundle should contain 15–20 plants.
Hang the bundles in direct sunlight or in a well-ventilated area. It is very important to keep them dry and protected from rain. Even a single exposure to moisture can reduce the intensity of the blue color.
After a few days, the stems will begin to shrink as they dry, so check the bundles and tighten the string if necessary.
The drying process is complete when the leaves are completely dry.
